For centuries, the Grand Canyon area was inhabited by ancient Indians. By the time the Europeans arrived in Arizona, the Hualapai, Hawasupai, Payut tribes and others were living here. It is said that caves hollowed out by the Indians have been preserved in the walls. There are excursions at the bottom of the Canyon, and perhaps there are Indian caves.
One of the most beautiful caves in Arizona is the magical Emerald Cave, hidden in the Black Canyon. You can get there by kayaking up the Colorado River from Willow Beach. Beautiful pictures can be taken in the cave in the afternoon, when the water in the cave becomes amazingly emerald and the glare from the water is reflected on the stone vault. You can stop at a picnic in the cave.
